Ocean Wilkins, just 8 years old, is a passionate lover of coral reefs from Brisbane, Australia, who wants to bring the dead coral reefs in front of his home in Moreton Bay back to life with Biorock coral reefs. Moreton Bay once had thriving reefs with nearly 150 species of corals. Now there are only the last survivors, smothered in mud and algae due to soil, sewage, and fertilizers washing into the sea from land. Biorock provides exceptional coral growth and survival under severe environmental stresses from high temperature, sediment, and nutrients, growing corals where all other methods fail due to poor water quality. The authorities say that Ocean is not allowed to start a coral restoration project. Unless he pays a $10,000 application fee they won’t consider it. How will we regenerate our dying coral reefs for the future if governments prevent it?
