Ibu Karang, Pemuteran Bay, Bali, Indonesia

Photo above depicts the top of the GCRA reef structure called the Ibu Karang, which in English means, Mother of Corals. Site is in the Pemuteran Bay in Bali. The whole structure is 12 meters (39 feet) in diameter and was built in year 2000 during the First International Workshop on Biorock Technology. The dome was designed and built by Wolf Hilbertz, the corals were attached by Tom Goreau and local volunteers. Photos show about two years of coral growth.
