Meeting of the Communities of Ocean Action From Commitments to Action: Implementing SDG14

Incheon, Republic of Korea 30-31 May 2019

The United Nations has launched nine thematic multi-stakeholder Communities of Ocean Action (COAs) to follow-up on the implementation of the voluntary commitments made at the 2017 UN Ocean Conference—a growing list that now includes more than 1,500 pledges. These groups facilitate collaboration among different actors in support of Sustainable Development Goal 14, Life Below Water.

The Incheon Meeting of the COAs aims to share best practices and experiences among community members and interested stakeholders, as well as provide partnership opportunities and catalyze further pledges for ocean action. It will also kick-start a strategic preparatory process in the lead-up to the anticipated 2020 United Nations Ocean Conference and inform the deliberations of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in July.
